So the next project is done in Downtown Newport news and we have to design our site to fit our building. Everyone in the class had to take part in the making of the big class model and site plan which was crazy if u ask me because everyone didn't want to do there part. We noticed that there was a lil confusion about the size of the site b/c people were forgetting to include the vegetation but I think we got all the confusion fixed. Name the architect on Wednesday was such a success I wish a student would of won but Shannon and Carmina just knew too much and if u didn't get to see the competition u missed out!
So our new task is to design a place that is secluded and not open to the public and inside is where they manufacture/produce products that will be displayed inside. I feel like were making a larger sized curiosity container or a exhibit. The process work that I have been doing so far is that I been exploring tectonic/sterotomic and in my study I was looking at how u stack materials and layering on the outside of the building.
So we found out that our last project was really a museum. Wow who would of thought that was really what we were designing I don't think people would of came up with such unique ideas if we didn't have to think about the scenes that we had to incorporate. The next task we were given was to use this epic that has tectonic and sterotomic characteristics and one overtakes the other. Well I have come up with some ideas and I think I have come up with a solution so here is some of the things I came up with.
So our finial project is due this week which ultimately a fable we came up with that give us the bases of our building design. Last week I went to the Disney presentation and that was amazing it really made me want to enter there competition and just start dreaming and that all of my creative ideas can really be used somewhere in the world for everyone to see.
In Durham North Carolina the regional public library entered an environmental benefit. They were recognized for there brick thermal mass which improves energy efficiency and helps to keep energy use 35% lower then conventional design. I thought this was interesting because now days everyone is trying to go green and use materials that will be beneficial to the environment.
